Bible Verses: Psalm 46:10-11 (ESV-English Standard Version) God is our Fortress

An important part of keeping God’s word in your heart and having it available for when you need to quote it to fight against the devil’s temptations is to memorize scripture. There are many ways to do this including singing verses, using pneumonic devices, and old-fashioned look and don’t look as you try to say the verse. Here is a technique that I learned from memverse.com. Try it out and see if it works for you. This psalm encourages us to trust God during troubled times because God is more powerful than the world. God is with us, so we have nothing to fear. At two to three verses a week, it should take 4 weeks to memorize this passage, but you can work faster if you wish.

Psalms 46:1-11 To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Step 1: First read or sing or chant the verses several times.

(Verse 10) “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
(Verse 11)  The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah 

Step 2: Now try saying the verses with words missing.

Step 3: Try saying the verses with more words missing.

Step 4: Try saying the verses with even more words missing.

Step 5: Try saying the verses with only blanks.
