Memorizing Bible Verses: Matthew 6:33-34 (ESV-English Standard Version)
An important part of keeping God’s word in your heart and having it available for when you need to quote it to fight against the devil’s temptations is to memorize scripture. There are many ways to do this including singing verses, using pneumonic devices, and old-fashioned look and don’t look as you try to say the verse. Here is a technique that I learned from memverse.com. Try it out and see if it works for you. The goal for the Lilies of the Field series is to memorize Matthew 6:25-34. This is a passage about not being worried. Instead, we are to trust God to take care of us. At two verses a week, it should take five weeks to memorize this passage, but you can work faster if you wish.
Step 1: First read or sing or chant the verses several times.
(Verse 33) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
(Verse 34) “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Step 2: Now try saying the verses with words missing.
(Verse 33) But seek first the kingdom of ___________ and his ___________, and all these things will be ___________ to you.
(Verse 34) “Therefore do not be anxious about ___________, for ___________ will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the ___________ is its own trouble.
Step 3: Try saying the verses with more words missing.

Step 4: Try saying the verses with even more words missing.
